Hangin In the Hood

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve given an update. We spent a couple of days in Hilton Head. A big thanks again to Kristie’s parents. The kids had a blast in the ocean, and we stopped at the national zoo in D.C. on the way home.

In other news I started my new job for the Aliquippa Recreation Program. I can’t believe it’s only been 3 days and I have a bag full of stories to tell. The kids have been hounding me. I kind of stand out and I don’t want to hear the name Mr. John anymore, but it’s so rewarding. Yesterday I got myself caught in a game of streetball with the older guys I let them borrow my basketball, and they were unwilling to give it back, so I ended up playing with them until I got the ball back. Which I did. Today we had to round up the kids and take them inside while inmates in prison uniforms came to cut the grass and weedwack. It has been one crazy ride, and it’s only day 3.

The Big Three Oh

Kristie’s 30th BirthdayWell Kristie turned 30 on Sunday. We had a great day, she was totally surprised to see I invited people over for cake and ice cream. I’ve never really planned a birthday party for her. It took her 5 different people showing up at the house to realize it wasn’t all a coincidence. We went and drove golf balls, and then went to the drive-in to see Shrek 2 (very funny- 4 1/2 stars). Things with the ministry continue to move along. We got a pay pal account so you can make donations online, and on the home front I’ve been cleaning up my art desk and making myself a nice work station. Man I’ve got a lot of cartoons and artwork lying around. Other than that I was helping doing some work on a deck, and this Sunday I’m preaching at Oak Hill Alliance church. I just found out today, so if you need weeds pulled, your kids watched, a deck built, or a sermon preached, than I’m your man! Holla!

The Ride of Your Life

First of all don’t think that there are going to be 3 different entries everyday, but this has been one amazing day. We opened a bank account for the ministry and have already recieved 3 donations (Praise the Lord!) I got hired as a site supervisor for the summer program in Aliquippa, and we got in touch with our lawyer and he’s hookin us up with the incorporation paperwork. All that we need to do is fill it out and send it back to him. Oh yeah and Fantasia won American Idol, she’s the bomb!!! Our pastor has been talking about the Ride of Your Life, and we are living that for sure right now. The trick is to stay patient and that is what we are trying to be as we put our hope and trust in the Lord!

Dig A Tunnel

I’ve been keeping busy helping out some roofers and digging a bunch of holes for a deck being built. I dug these holes so deep I could actually see the earths core! Kristie has continued to have lots of Tupperware parties, and the kids are still trying to fight off their ear infections. Tyler has really been wiped out by it all. In ministry news, things have slowed down a bit and it has been easy for us to get anxious, but in reality God has allowed a lot of things to happen in a short period of time. We have legal and accounting advisers, a great web site started, and the word out to a lot of people with out even really trying. God is faithful! In other news as of Sunday I will be married to a 30 year old.

Ouch!

Well the kids both have ear infections. It has been some rough nights sleeping.
I’ve been working a little landscaping here and there (aka weed pullin), but whatever pays the bills. Kristie has had a ton of Tupperware parties this month which is also good for paying those bills. Other than that things with the ministry are coming along. I’ve got a great web designer who is making our web site look really great. Please keep the kids in your prayers.

Tame Your Mane

Mop head Today was another good day. We’ve been making headway on things with starting a ministry. We got in touch with a lawyer, and someone else who has started a non-profit ministry. It all is a bit encouraging, when you still feel like you might be acting completely foolish. I trust that if God wants it to happen, He will continue to make a way. In other new my hair is as long as it has ever been. Kristie and I made an agreement to let it grow until I got a job. It’s starting to come over my ears! Gross! (For an idea of what it looks like refer to Grandma Brown’s basement wall). I’m trying to decide if I should turn it into the Willomere Mullet or not, we’ll have to see. As thick as my hair is I imagine I have nearly 30 lbs of hair on my head. No wonder my neck is sore. Peace and love!
