Skybacher’s Locker is the personal sports, character illustration, and devotional blog of John Mohrbacher.
My locker is stuffed with a lot of creativity and passion. It won’t all fit so I thought I could use this as an outlet for some of it. I’ve always had a passion for sports as I grew up watching the Steelers of the 70′s, Willie Stargell, and played soccer for the
Green Mean Team! I’ve been drawing cartoons and characters for almost as long. I can still remember taking a pocket calendar from my mom in church and filling each day with a different character. And none of this would be possible with out Jesus Christ, may He have the glory!
So what’s up with the name “Skybacher”? Well that’s the name of a cartoon I first drew in 11th grade. Skybacher was my little alter-ego character. I’m not a big fan of growing up, so I held onto that High School nickname and have just kept working on the franchise!! When I’m not substitute teaching middle school kids, or coaching soccer, basketball, or whatever sport my 4 kids and I are playing in the yard. My wife and I work on running our non-profit ministry called what else? “Skybacher
Ministries”. We (Me, My wife, and God) started Skybacher Ministries from nothing. A bake sale at Wal-Mart and a Volleyball Tourament and a sports and youth ministry was born.
So that’s Skybacher – I love drawing on my Wacom Bamboo Tablet, I love watching soccer on t.v. I love carrying my white DSi with me wherever I go usually playing one of the Pokemon games so I can battle my kids! I did go to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for a year, but that was before computers really took off, so most of the stuff I’ve taught myself through tutorials and lots of practice. If you wanna talk about character design, sports ministry, faith, or DSi check me out on one of the social networks.
